When materials that contain asbestos are disturbed or damaged, fibres are released into the air. When these fibres are inhaled they can cause serious diseases. These diseases will not affect you immediately; they often take a long time to develop, but once diagnosed, it is often too late to do anything. This is why it is important that you protect yourself now.
Asbestos can cause the following fatal and serious diseases - Mesothelioma, Asbestos-related lung cancer, Asbestosis and Pleural Thickening.
Asbestos Cement fibre roofs, asbestos cement panels (typically garages), occasionally old roofing felt.
· You can't see or smell asbestos fibres in the air

· The effects of being exposed to asbestos take many years to show up - avoid breathing it in now

Be assured we take health and safety very seriously. V.S.F’s approved installation teams are regularly engaged in asbestos awareness training, in which they are demonstrated, explained and given the necessary Health & Safety literature on how to deal with asbestos from removal, packaging and disposal. They are advised on safety clothing including respiratory masks, protective clothing and correct footwear. We take the safety and health of our staff seriously and encourage them to use all the advice given.

Our approved installers are also trained in correct Manual Handling techniques and working at heights etc etc. Safe use of all power tools.

In the 1950’s – 1980’s, hundreds of thousands of cement fibre sheets reinforced with white asbestos fibre (Chrysotile – white asbestos) were used on British garages. This ‘Asbestos Cement Roofing Sheeting’ typically contains a maximum of 15% Asbestos and does not normally present a health hazard, although if disturbed, the asbestos fibres can constitute a deadly risk.

VSF have gained a successful working knowledge of replacing this potential hazard and deploy approved fitting teams of appropriately qualified personnel to ensure that you can fully benefit from the VSF replacement roofing system.

VSF will dispose of any debris including your existing corrugated asbestos sheeting using up to date health & safety recommendations. Our approved installers are fully trained, certified and updated on a regular basis, with the latest asbestos awareness. All asbestos is taken away to safe storage by the installers who all hold registered waste carriers licences.
